so anyway the Bears finaly beat Green Bay at Chicago for the first time in 11 games. I should be happy write. Well i am, but i am laso worried as well. Our offense is horrible. We play the steelers next week, and if the bears offense plays like they did today they well not win. Now I was willing to concede the fact that Orton was looking better against Jacksonville and i thought there might be some hope. But the last two games he has
done nothing but regress. If healthy Grossman needs to be in there. Now the argument is that Grossman hasn't proven anything. That may be true, but i don't think he can do much worse. It is at least worth giving him a chance. I understand that Orton is a better option the Blake, but the moment Rex is healthy he needs to be in the game. Our defence is winning the game, despite our offense, not because of it.

here's a little song about the joys of being a Cub fan

A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request

    by Steve Goodman (1983)
A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request

By the shore's of old Lake Michigan
Where the "hawk wind" blows so cold
An old Cub fan lay dying
In his midnight hour that tolled
Round his bed, his friends had all gathered
They knew his time was short
And on his head they put this bright blue cap
    From his all-time favorite sport
He told them, "Its late and its getting dark in here"
And I know its time to go
But before I leave the line-up
Boys, there's just one thing I'd like to know

Do they still play the blues in Chicago
    When baseball season rolls around
    When the snow melts away,
    Do the Cubbies still play
    In their ivy-covered burial ground
When I was a boy they were my pride and joy
But now they only bring fatigue
To the home of the brave
    The land of the free
And the doormat of the National League

Told his friends "You know the law of averages says:
    Anything will happen that can"
    That's what it says
"But the last time the Cubs won a National League pennant
Was the year we dropped the bomb on Japan"
The Cubs made me a criminal
Sent me down a wayward path
They stole my youth from me
    (that's the truth)
    I'd forsake my teachers
To go sit in the bleachers
    In flagrant truancy

and then one thing led to another
and soon I'd discovered alcohol, gambling, dope
    football, hockey, lacrosse, tennis
    But what do you expect,
When you raise up a young boy's hopes
And then just crush 'em like so many paper beer cups.

    Year after year after year
after year, after year, after year, after year, after year
'Til those hopes are just so much popcorn
for the pigeons beneath the 'L' tracks to eat
He said, "You know I'll never see Wrigley Field, anymore before my eternal rest
So if you have your pencils and your score cards ready,
and I'll read you my last request
He said, "Give me a double header funeral in Wrigley Field
On some sunny weekend day (no lights)
Have the organ play the "National Anthem"
and then a little 'na, na, na, na, hey hey, hey, Goodbye'
Make six bullpen pitchers, carry my coffin
and six ground keepers clear my path
Have the umpires bark me out at every base
    In all their holy wrath
Its a beautiful day for a funeral, Hey Ernie lets play two!
Somebody go get Jack Brickhouse to come back,
and conduct just one more interview
Have the Cubbies run right out into the middle of the field,
Have Keith Moreland drop a routine fly
Give everybody two bags of peanuts and a frosty malt
And I'll be ready to die

Build a big fire on home plate out of your Louisville Sluggers baseball bats,
    And toss my coffin in
Let my ashes blow in a beautiful snow
From the prevailing 30 mile an hour southwest wind
When my last remains go flying over the left-field wall
Will bid the bleacher bums adíeu
And I will come to my final resting place, out on Waveland Avenue

The dying man's friends told him to cut it out
They said stop it that's an awful shame
He whispered, "Don't Cry, we'll meet by and by near the Heavenly Hall of Fame
He said, "I've got season's tickets to watch the Angels now,
So its just what I'm going to do
He said, "but you the living, you're stuck here with the Cubs,
So its me that feels sorry for you!"

And he said, "Ahh Play, play that lonesome losers tune,
That's the one I like the best"
And he closed his eyes, and slipped away
What we got is the Dying Cub Fan's Last Request
    And here it is

Do they still play the blues in Chicago
    When baseball season rolls around
    When the snow melts away,
    Do the Cubbies still play
    In their ivy-covered burial ground
When I was a boy they were my pride and joy
But now they only bring fatigue
To the home of the brave
    The land of the free
And the doormat of the National League

Not really much to say, kind of depressed write now, don't really know why. I miss my ex, but that is only a small part of things, so i am not really sure whats wrong. I have had a cough for over two weeks, i am with out a car,and my knee is a pain in my ass, so i guese that kind of adds to it.

Also the Cubs resigned Nefi Perez *(&^(*^*&^(*^(*& yeah, a really important part to get us a World Series )(*)^*^)(**)(_*&_&)(*)(*_)(*& oh how i love being a cub fan.

a post on www.northsidebaseball.com just made me smile. It was written there by the a fellow cubs fan. and here it is.

Oh my Cardinal hatred runs deep!

From Kessinger, to Beckert, to Banks
My love of the Cubs is great
Lo, through the years they have caused me angst
This has not made my Cub-fondness abate.

    A baseball purist, am I
With love for chin music, and no patience for the DH
I may not like other teams, but I try
Like fine wine, the game gets better with age

I am peaceful and kind of heart
    There is one thing, however
That makes my responce quite tart
    Please, utter the name never

The redbirds of Saint Louis are they
And Oh, does my hatred for them run deep!
If only the league would send them away
This loyal Cub fan would be able to sleep

From Musial, and Gibson, Boyer or Flood
I always wish that they never succeed
Since a Cardinal team playing as a dud,
To me, is better than the best mead

The Mad Hungarian was a bum
    And so was Mark McGwire
With all his chemically induced runs
Their consistent play could draw my ire

Many of my Cubs’ seasons they have stolen
Wearing of the ‘birds-on-the-bat’ is revolting
Ah yes, and I hate Scott Rolen
Too bad they didn’t keep Joe McEwing

Oh, my hatred for the Cardinals runs deep!
From the pit of my heart to the tip of my tongue
Like the upper deck at Busch was so steep
My Cardinal hatred is so strong, I wish them all dung.

Notre Dame is finally returing to dominance in football. Thank you Lord for Wiese

The illini Just finished their last exhibition game and the season is starting. (we won't bring up illini footbal. The Illini have a football team???!!!!)
